Happy hour just got happier for country fans. Uncle Kracker, whose “Smile” video is currently at No. 11 on GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown, plans to release a new six-song country-centered album June 22.

Titled Happy Hour: The South River Road Sessions, the project features reimagined versions of songs that originally appeared on last year’s Happy Hour album. That includes a country version of “Smile,” which was certified platinum on April 16 after selling one million digital copies.

“I’ve always had a genuine passion for country,” Uncle Kracker says. “I think that audiences appreciate that, and that’s why they’re giving me a chance. Country music was one of the types of music I grew up with, so elements of it naturally come out in my songwriting. Listening to a lot of my songs — all the way back to ‘Follow Me’ — I feel like I’ve been making country music for years.”

Uncle Kracker’s certainly made his presence known in country. Even before “Smile” found its way onto GAC, he joined Kenny Chesney on “When The Sun Goes Down.” He also was a co-writer on Kid Rock’s 2008 country hit “All Summer Long.”

Kid Rock makes an appearance on the South River Road release, as does new country singer Jesse Lee.
